Church
Weekend at Headway Hotel, Morecambe.
September 2011
Twenty eight members and friends of the church spent a wonderful weekend of Morecambe where the guest speaker was Derek Tidball.
Derek spoke from the book of Malachi and each session posed a question for us all to think about. He spoke about the Isralites and their polluted sacrifices asking us to think about our sacrifices to our God. Are we giving our best to God or just going through the motions. God deserves our best not our castoffs and leftovers.
On Saturday he spoke about the covenent of God. We do not have a contract with God and God is faithful to the covenent, He has not changed we have. At the third session Derek spoke about the Justice of God and how we ask God to do something about the injustice in the world, and when He says "I will" but we don't like what He does or who He sends. God refines us and purifies us so He can send us into the world to witness for Him. He also spoke about tithes and how God seems to return more to us than we give.
The evening session brought us to the power of God. We want God to be dramatic and change the world and how God uses the faithful to Him. God works through us but also without us. He also reminded us that judment day is also salvation day for some.
It is impossible to relate all Derek taught us over the weekend but everyone will have been blessed over the weekend under Derek's teaching and we thank him for the time he spent with us.
A big thank you also goes to Michelle, Shaun, Ian and everyone who helped to organise and set up the weekend, we could not have managed with out you and your hard work showed in the smooth running of everything that went on.
Below are a few photographs of the weekend.
