As church leaders
we believe we all need to make sure we are right with God. On a day when we as
a church have been called to fast and pray, the following 7 steps are meant to
help each of us to reflect on our relationship with God. Taking time to read the scriptures and
consider what they are saying.
Consider the holiness of God.
A
God whose presence we are in, A God who we have this relationship with. Exodus
3:5 Isaiah 6:5
Consider your own life.
a)
Do not compare it with others compare it with
b)
Ask yourself, have I ever been closer to God, if so, who has moved, why
and how as this come about.
c)
Am I doubting God’s word, Gods power or Gods mercy for something in my
life
Make
a list of areas in your life, that you know needs to improve.
All is not lost, yes we have made mistakes /drifted from God / let God
down, but let us remind ourselves of the goodness and mercy of God Nehemiah
9:31, Romans 9:16
After considering your life and your present relationship with God, is
there anything you need to repent of, is there anything you need to ask God for
help with. Go through the list you made, handing them all over to God. And remember HE IS MERCIFUL Psalm 51, Micah
7:18
As we know God’s mercy for the past acknowledge we do not face the future
alone, we do not face those difficult times alone, we do not have to try and live
reformed lives but through Gods power we can be transformed. Romans 12:2, 2
Corinthians 3:18
Spend
time in prayer, handing things to God, any future events which concerns you.
Decisions you may have to make, attitudes that need to change.
Spend time in worship. Psalm 95
