Hetton IM church moved to Morecambe for the Church weekend this year and stayed at the Headway Hotel, where we were well fed and watered both physically and spiritually.

About 37 men, women and young people travelled to share fellowship and to hear what God had to say to us.

Our speaker this year was Alistair Purss who spoke on the book of Philipians. Alistair is senior Pastor at Bethany Christian Centre and is a good friend to many of us at Hetton. We were all challenged by the message about ‘Living an authentic Christian life.’

The first session was ‘The Christian Task’ and Alistair spoke about how we are ‘all together’ in the Christian task and should encourage each other in the church.

Session two was ‘The Christian Character’ Living a life worthy of the Christian Gospel and how ‘our character’ is a choice. Are we self- centered or imitators of Christ?

Session three was ‘The Christian Ambition’ What are our reasons for doing what we do? Are we working to glorify Christ or ourselves?

The last session was ‘The Christian’s Confidence’ The things that can erode our confidence as Christians and what can build us up.

I know that many found the message over the weekend very challenging and inspirational.

After Saturday evenings session we were treated to a quiz night by Keith where the highlight of the evening was a crisp tasting challenge!!!!

We thank everyone who worked hard behind the scenes to see that everything went well and as a church we appreciate all they have done.

Our last meeting together was for the breaking of bread on Sunday morning before many of us set off home.

The elders and the deacons worked hard to make the weekend a success and I am sure everyone would agree it was.
